The region’s COVID-19 response has received a boost with the Federal Government’s announcement that GP-led respiratory clinics are likely to remain open for a further six months, until 31 March 2021.
GP-led respiratory clinics are an important part of health system response to COVID-19. GP-led respiratory clinics are available at no cost to the general public to assess, test and diagnose mild-to-moderate respiratory conditions, including COVID-19, influenza and pneumonia.
People with mild to moderate respiratory symptoms can visit hospital fever clinics or a GP-led respiratory clinic for testing. You can also make an appointment with your GP via telehealth and obtain a referral for private pathology testing.
Symptoms include:
- Fever (temperature above 37.5)
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Difficulty breathing
- Loss of smell
- Loss of taste
Currently GP-led respiratory clinics are contracted to provide services at:
- Murwillumbah, Casino, Ballina and Yamba in Northern NSW
- Nambucca, Kempsey and Wauchope in the Mid North Coast
