As we step into the new year and gear up for Term 1 at school, it’s the perfect time to build healthy habits for ourselves and our families. Encouraging good eating routines and staying active can set kids up for lifelong wellbeing.
Healthy eating tips for the family
- Stick to regular meals: Consistent meal and snack times help kids recognise hunger cues and prevent overeating.
- Make healthy foods fun: Involve children in meal prep and introduce new foods gradually.
- Keep nutritious snacks handy: Have fruits, veggies, and whole grains readily available.
Get moving as a family:
- Make it fun! Try activities like bike rides, dancing, or a weekend nature walk.
- Limit screen time: Encourage outdoor play instead of excessive screen use.
- Lead by example: Kids are more likely to be active if they see their parents moving too!
