Dr Mark Rahman
Serving the communities of the Northern Rivers, Dr Mark Rahman is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specialising in breast reconstruction and skin cancer surgery.
Mark and his wife have recently moved up from Sydney to live in the area, making him one of very few reconstructive plastic surgeons who is based here permanently.
Mark consults and operates at both St Vincent’s Lismore and John Flynn Private Hospital. He also consults in Ballina and is a visiting specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he performs his more complex reconstructive cases.
Mark has over 15 years post graduate experience working in both the UK and Australia. He completed his specialist training in Sydney and is recently back from a reconstructive microsurgery fellowship focusing on breast reconstruction at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
Mark explains, “Sadly, Australia has some of the lowest rates of breast reconstruction following mastectomies in the developed world, particularly outside of the major cities. Breast reconstruction following cancer is often a vital part of womens’ psychological recovery. I hope to be able to contribute to improving the rates of breast reconstruction in the area.”
Mark is also able to offer his services in managing patients with skin cancers, particularly those on the face or cosmetically sensitive areas.
