Are you a fellowed GP? Would you like to be funded for a year of training in any speciality interest that is accredited?
The Mid North Coast Local Health District has funding for two positions in the General Practitioner Procedural Training Program for 2018. This will fund a year’s training for fellowed GPs in any specialty of interest that is accredited, eg. ED/Paeds/Surg/MH/O&G.
The program provides opportunities for GPs to acquire additional skills in procedural general practice that equips them to practice in rural NSW.
Background
The NSW Rural General Practice Procedural Training Program (GPPTP) provides 15 full time equivalent supernumery training posts state-wide each year. The program provides opportunities for General Practitioners (GPs) to acquire additional procedural skills to meet the healthcare needs of rural communities.
Training Posts are located across rural NSW and meet approved standards determined by the relevant medical colleges in the following specialties:
The program is endorsed by the medical colleges through Joint Consultative Committee structure (ACRRM, RACGP and representatives from DRANZCOG, RACS, RANZCP, ACEM, ANZCA).
Who should apply?
GPs currently in rural practice or intending to take up rural practice.
Priority is given to GPs and doctors seeking 6 – 12 months training terms with shorter training programs, including flexible and part time options are available.
All applications must be consistent with the service needs of rural and remote communities and have the support of the relevant Local Health Districts (LHDs).
