As COVID-19 cases rise across the NSW North Coast, Residential Aged Care Facilities are encouraged to:
- Re-visit their outbreak management plan
- Ensure that new staff members are made aware of the plans
- Have outbreak resources readily available for staff.
For symptomatic residents, facilities should:
- Ensure the resident remains isolated until initial testing is complete, and a diagnosis is known
- If the COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) is negative, the resident should have a respiratory panel PCR test
- If the COVID-19 RAT is positive, the resident should be managed as a COVID-19 case.
Visitors to facilities should:
- Be well and free of respiratory symptoms
- Be strongly encouraged to take a RAT before entry
- Be encouraged to wear a mask during their visit
- Not visit if COVID-19 positive, for at least 7 days, and be symptom-free.
