National Advance Care Planning Week took place 17-23 March 2025.
Advance care planning allows health professionals to understand and respect a person’s future healthcare preferences, for a time when they become seriously ill and unable to communicate for themselves.
All healthcare professionals and aged care workers have an important role to help with planning and ensuring people have choice in their care. You might want to start the conversation with someone, or they might ask you about the requirements of advance care planning.
As part of National Advance Care Planning Week, Advance Care Planning Australia ran two webinars that can be caught up on:
- Contemporary advance care planning with Dr Greg Parker and Dr Craig Sinclair
- In conversation: Make your choices matter
In collaboration with the End of Life Law for Clinicians program, Healthy North Coast also hosted an education event in Coffs Harbour during ACP Week. This was a great opportunity for attendees to understand their legal responsibilities in end-of-life care through an interactive case study.
The ELLC has free online training programs to support clinical practice.
