Carers are one of the backbones of our health system, providing ongoing support while juggling complex responsibilities. Yet many carers remain unseen and unsupported.
Why this matters:
Unrecognised carers carry higher health risk, with significantly higher distress (35.9%), loneliness (42.7%) and distinct lower general health compared to the general population. Recognising and supporting carers early can make a huge difference.
Your role:
94% of carers visit a primary health provider, giving you a unique opportunity to connect them with resources that improve outcomes for both the carer and the person they care for.
As a trusted health professional, you’re in the best position to start the conversation. A simple question such as “Are you caring for someone at home?” can open the door to recognition and support. We want to make these conversations easier for you.
What we’re doing:
Healthy North Coast is developing practical tools to help you identify and support carers. But these tools need to work in real-world practice – and that’s where your expertise comes in.
How you can help:
Please take 3 minutes to share your insights. Your feedback will shape solutions that fit your workflow and make carer support a standard part of care.
Take the Clinical Survey on our Recognising Carers page, and please feel free to share the link with others.
Thank you for your insights 🙏
