headspace Coffs Harbour is welcoming young people interested in expressing themselves through art.
An art group meets on Monday afternoons from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at headspace, 45-53 Little Street, and is open to all young people in the community.
“You don’t need to be an artist to come here,” said teacher Ben Morrison. “It’s a bit of fun for the community and there’s a big social aspect that comes with getting involved. We can help people develop their art, whatever they’re interested in.”
Fourteen-year-old Kaileia says the group helps her express her feelings. Aiko, 17, likes the chilled-out environment.
“It’s a good way to unwind without pressure,” Aiko said. “I’d recommend it to any young person who wants to unleash their artistic potential. Getting into something you enjoy can be really helpful.”
headspace helps young people aged 12 to 25 with:
- mental health and wellbeing
- general health
- sexual health, and
- connections to education, employment, housing, physical health and drug and alcohol services.
headspace Coffs Harbour is supported by funding from North Coast Primary Health Network.
headspace Coffs Harbour is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Fridays 9am to 4.30pm. Telephone (02) 6652 1878.
