Surf therapy charity Waves of Wellness (WOW) is encouraging people to take the plunge in October to raise money for their mental health programs.
For the first 20 days in October, WOW is challenging people to immerse themselves in cold water daily to raise funds for WOW’s mental health surf therapy programs.
WOW delivers free clinical-based group programs on the beach with a learn-to-surf component. Their programs support those in the community who are struggling with mental health issues.
WOW Chief Executive Joel Pilgrim said the challenge was a fun way of encouraging people to focus on their wellbeing, while at the same time raising money for a good cause.
‘Whether it’s the beach, a pool, a dam, your shower, or an esky full of ice – all it takes is a quick duck,’ Mr Pilgrim said.
