Healthy North Coast recently sponsored two stakeholder networking events for The Welcome Experience in Kempsey (29 January) and Port Macquarie (3 Feb).
The Welcome Experience is a free service offered by the NSW Government that helps essential workers (and their families) who are considering applying for, or have accepted a job, in regional NSW. The program is delivered by Regional Development Australia in the Mid North Coast region.
The stakeholder networking events were a chance to talk about The Welcome Experience journey so far, and how this program has assisted our essential workers integrate into the community.
‘Local Connectors’ from The Welcome Experience can offer support in social connections, leisure & recreation, accommodation, employment for partners and cultural connection. HNC discussed the importance of these connections across the region for our essential workers and the impact this program can have on workforce retention.
Local Connectors from across the Mid North Coast & Northern NSW will be attending the registrar welcome dinner in Coffs Harbour later this week, where 41 new GP registrars will be introduced to their Local Connector.
