Following the release of the Healthy North Coast ‘Living with dementia on the North Coast’ booklet, Dr Marita Long and Dr Peter Silberberg from Dementia Training Australia recently presented the Dementia in Primary Care webinar.
The webinar explored key considerations that need to be addressed when developing management plans for people living with dementia. It outlined the latest in diagnosis and treatment options, and the importance of a strengths-based approach.
Dr Long and Dr Silberberg praised the Healthy North Coast dementia information booklet as a ‘great resource’ that will benefit people living with dementia and their families as well as general practice. The booklet includes a list of common questions to ask GPs and /or specialists.
The resource is linked into the Dementia and Cognitive Impairment HealthPathway. There is an associated Primary Care Impact project to assist general practices in supporting people living with dementia and their families throughout their journey.
