COVID-19 vaccine supplies have doubled across the North Coast this month, with a boost to Pfizer supplies and Moderna vaccine now available at many pharmacies.
It’s also now easier for people to make a vaccination appointment by visiting the newly updated online Vaccine Clinic Finder (previously called the Vaccine Eligibility Checker).
Participating general practices, Commonwealth Vaccination Centres and pharmacies are all listed. The clinic finder is also now a lot simpler to use. It provides a handy map to show you where there are vaccination services in your area, as well as contact details.
By the end of next week, there will be 91 community pharmacies administering the Moderna vaccine across the North Coast. We anticipate about 11,000 doses of Moderna will be available per week.
The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (PGA) is playing the lead role in enabling distribution of this new vaccine.
If you’re wondering how your local government area is tracking for first and second dose COVID-19 vaccinations, check out our Mid North Coast and Northern NSW snapshot.
In October, Pfizer supplies will increase from around 20,000 doses a week on the North Coast to more than 30,000 doses a week.
Regionally, 74% of residents aged over 16 have had their first dose of vaccine and 45% have had their second.
This is slightly higher (2%) than the national average but a bit lower (8%) than the State average. The difference is due to the significant push and increased dose supply supporting Sydneysiders to get vaccinated.
The Mid North Coast area is 7% higher than the national average, with 79% of people having had their first dose.
Overall vaccination rates in on the North Coast have been increasing about 4–5% a week, which is on par with national vaccination trends. All local government areas in our region are now over 60% and this will continue to lift with the newly available supply.
