Residential aged care providers and those providing services within aged care are reminded to regularly visit the NSW Health website for the latest advice and directions from NSW Health.
As of 7 January 2021 – and until further notice – all residential aged care facilities must:
- ensure all staff and visitors wear a surgical mask within the facility
- ensure residents have a maximum of only two visitors each day.
- exclude visitors from the hot spot areas in NSW, Queensland or any other state with hot spots
- follow and maintain routine screening processes.
Anyone visiting residents who are terminal must follow previous public health directives. These directives include:
- screening of visitors
- a limit of two visitors for two hours
- wearing of full PPE by visitors
- visitors to be escorted in and out of the facility.
Admissions into residential aged care facilities can still be coordinated using the facilities’ screening guidelines.
