NSW Health has announced new guidelines to help protect residents in residential aged care facilities.
Until at least 11.59pm on Wednesday 23 December, all residential aged care facilities across NSW will be closed to visitors, except those performing essential caring functions.
Visiting may be possible in exceptional circumstances, such as a terminally ill relative. Many facilities also have the option of virtual visits by video conference.
All staff and exempted visitors must wear a surgical mask while in a residential aged care facility and screening will be undertaken before entering the facility.
If you are planning to visit a residential aged care facility, please contact the facility in advance and they will discuss the available options for connecting with your loved one virtually or in person.
You can also visit the NSW Health website to keep up to date with the latest advice from NSW Health.
