Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) Health Promotion and Clinical Nurse Specialist Rhonda Wykes has developed a short video to showcase the essential role child and family health nurses play in supporting children and their families with healthy habit lifestyle advice.
Rhonda shares her experience as a clinician, outlining how she has worked with a family to identify behaviours they wanted to change, develop their own solutions, and make changes that are sustainable.
‘Child assessment provides a great opportunity to discuss healthy lifestyle behaviours and provide advice for families that can make a huge difference to their overall health,’ says Rhonda.
The video provides a real-life example of how healthcare professionals can influence the health of the children and families they provide care to. It highlights how prevention can be embedded into routine clinical care and is part of an ongoing commitment to supporting children and their families to make changes that positively impact their health.
