Do you provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, chronic illness, mental illness, drug and alcohol dependency, terminal illness, or who is frail due to age?
Do your caring responsibilities affect your wellbeing or your ability to work, study or socialise?
Recognising that you’re a carer can give you access to the proper support. It’s important that you get the support you need. One in every eight residents in NSW is a carer (13.2% of the population).
Carer Gateway provides government-funded in-person, online and over-the-phone services, ensuring carers can access the support you need when you need it.
Services provided include:
- Counselling
- Peer support
- Tailored support packages
- Emergency respite
- Coaching
Tailored support packages can include practical supports such as transport assistance and planned respite. If there is a priority need, there is also funding to assist carers to connect with education and employment.
