On Saturday 31 August, Healthy North Coast and the Mid North Coast Division of General Practice collaborated to host an engaging and informative education event in Coffs Harbour, aimed at upskilling health professionals.
With an excellent turnout, participants benefited from the expertise of Kim Poyner from Medicoach, whose valuable insights made the day a resounding success.
Thank you to Kim for her outstanding contributions, and a special thank you to Lucinda Starr from the Mid North Coast Division of General Practice for her exceptional organisation of the event.
The comprehensive agenda included:
- Role of the receptionist & telephone etiquette – participants explored best practices in first impressions and maintaining a positive tone in patient interactions.
- Patient relationships – there were deep dives into communication techniques, professionalism, and navigating the challenges of dealing with difficult or physically aggressive patients.
- Managing multiple doctors – attendees learned practical tips to juggle the demands of working with various healthcare professionals simultaneously.
- Legal obligations – topics like patient privacy and compliance were covered, ensuring everyone left with a better understanding of their legal responsibilities.
- Medicare – shedding light on common mistakes related to Medicare, providing clarity to avoid costly errors.
We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future as we continue to support our health workforce with relevant training and resources.
