The 12th session of the First 2000 Days Webinar Series aims to provide you with the understanding and confidence to support patients or clients to consider stopping smoking, or help you to assist someone who is on their journey to become smoke free.

Melinda Ricketts is the Mid North Coast Local Health District Smoking Cessation Coordinator and a tobacco treatment specialist. Belinda Jackson is the Coffs Clinical Network Aboriginal Health Promotion Officer. Both Melinda and Belinda build the capacity of health professionals and service providers (NGOs and Aboriginal health organisations) to support clients to stop smoking. They both also support community members to quit smoking through nicotine replacement therapy and referral to Quitline.
The First 2000 Days webinar series has been designed to build the capacity of service providers and health professionals to support families and young children in the First 2000 Days. The 12th session of the series aims to:
- increase your understanding of the importance of the first 2000 days and actions that can be taken to promote better lifetime outcomes
- increase your knowledge of the importance of support for people giving up smoking
- increase your confidence to engage in conversations about quitting smoking
- increase your confidence to refer to local quit smoking organisations
- increase your awareness of and referrals to local quit smoking organisations.
