People aged 20–29 with symptoms of COVID-19 are being encouraged to get tested.
This age group has had the highest number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the NSW community, according to Australian Government statistics.
Symptoms include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Difficulty breathing
- Loss of taste or smell.
While no COVID-related deaths have been recorded in this age group, it is important to get tested to help reduce community transmission.
Getting tested also helps to ensure other people do not get infected and suffer harm – especially the elderly – as the majority of deaths have been reported in people aged 80 years and over.
A new campaign by COORDINARE has been created to encourage people aged 20–29 to take the test. The #swabmob campaign has produced some engaging short videos to show how quick and simple it is to get tested with a nasal swab. Check them out below.
People with mild to moderate respiratory symptoms can visit a hospital fever clinic or a GP-led respiratory clinic for testing. You can also make an appointment with your GP to obtain a referral for private pathology testing.
