The NSW Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) seeks to reduce the social, economic and health harms associated with opioid use.
There are incentives available through NSW Health and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia for pharmacists who deliver the OTP including:
- Staff training available through the Pharmaceutical Association of Australia, the Pharmacy Guild and Mid North Coast LHD. For example, to provide long-acting injectable buprenorphine (LAIB) injections
- $2,000 one-off payment for registering to provide OTP*
- $100 LAIB administration bonus, paid per injection for the first 10 LAIB administrations
- $50 per patient, twice a year on OTP (including depot buprenorphine) for up to 40 patients (or $2,000)
- $200 flat rate incentive per 6-month reporting period for completing the self-audit for community pharmacies providing OTP service.
Community pharmacies can register to participate and access the Pharmacy Incentive Scheme via NSW Health’s website.
The Pharmacy Incentive Scheme is administered by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. Head to their website for more information.
