The Practice Incentives Program Quality Improvement (PIPQI) is a national program from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) to support quality improvement for patients and the delivery of best-practice care.
General practices enrolled in the PIPQI program commit to continuous quality improvement activities that support them managing their patients’ health. The PIPQI measures are intended to support a regional and national understanding of chronic disease management in Australia.
On the North Coast there are over 140 general practices enrolled in the PIPQI program.
A recent data update from the AIHW has shown that accredited general practices across the Healthy North Coast region have recorded higher percentages of achievement than the national averages across all 10 Quality Improvement Measures for general practice.
The improvement measures are intended to support a regional and national understanding of chronic disease management in areas of high need. A quarterly data update is published by the AIHW to provide nationally consistent, comparable data against specified measures that contribute to the assessment of needs and to the improvement of regional and national health outcomes.
Healthy North Coast’s Primary Care Impact program supports general practices with quality improvement initiatives and helps to identify areas of focus and importance for primary care providers to improve the quality of health service delivery across our region.
