Organisations should be completing their transition of NASH certificates from SHA-1 to SHA-2 prior to or on 13 March 2022.
From 13 March 2022, all software companies (clinical and dispensing) must upgrade their software to be SHA-2 compatible.
This also means that organisations need to also upgrade their NASH certificate from SHA-1 (current solution) to SHA-2 security protocols by completing a new renewal.
These upgrades will provide enhanced security protection of healthcare information and ensure you can continue accessing digital health services safely and securely.
Companies like Best Practice, Medical Director, FRED, Minfos and more have already upgraded their software to be SHA-2 ready.
Check if your software is ready on the Australian Digital Health Agency’s NASH SHA-2 readiness registry.
Organisations should upgrade their software to a NASH SHA-2 ready product by 13 March 2022 to continue to connect to the following digital health services:
- My Health Record
- Healthcare Identifiers Service
- electronic prescribing
- secure messaging
For organisations that may have renewed their NASH certificate last year, you will need to ensure that you complete a new renewal with a NASH SHA-2 certificate. NASH certificates can now be viewed and renewed online through HPOS.
For next steps, visit our Primary Care Impact page National Service for Health (NASH) certificate renewal.
As the NASH certificates are hosted in HPOS via PRODA, you may find that you or your organisation need support to gain or update access into PRODA.
Visit our Primary Care Impact page for support to register, setup and maintain PRODA for individuals and organisations.
Visit the Australian Digital Health Agency for more information about NASH certificates, how they work and the transition to SHA-2.
