On Tuesday 15 February, the Nambucca & Macksville Clinical Society will discuss adolescent mental health. Attend this event for your chance to win a Django Macadamias gift box.
The regions of Nambucca and Macksville abound with natural beauty. From the uncrowded beaches to the sparkling waterways there’s plenty to love. But underneath the veneer of beauty, some of its young people are suffering. On the Mid North Coast, nearly one in four young people is unemployed, ice usage has increased dramatically in a decade, many young people live in fear of homelessness and domestic violence, and access to mental health support is often sparse.
This Nambucca & Macksville Clinical Society will explore some of the underlying causes of mental ill-health in the Nambucca and Macksville region, as well as the risks and behaviours that expose adolescents to mental health disorders. We will explain the psychological and developmental aspects of adolescence, and how adolescent development should influence a mental health plan.
This event will not only provide insights into the science behind adolescent mental health, it will explore practical solutions and referral pathways specific to the Nambucca and Macksville communities.
