Mental health referrals are now easier than ever thanks to a software integration that plugs straight into your existing practice software.
Submitting an eReferral is how you can access Healthy North Coast funded services for your eligible patients, such as psychological therapies through Healthy Minds, replacing the previous Connect to Wellbeing referral service.
You can now use your current practice software to refer using the Head to Health referral form via an integration from Consultmed.
Then, whenever you are with a patient, simply click on the Head to Health referral form and it will copy in all the previously input data about the patient (no need to input twice!).
The new integration also comes with the Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) embedded, eliminating the need to use two different websites and ensuring that your patient gets the right intensity of support.

About the IAR-DST
The Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) is a national initiative from the Department of Health and Aged Care that is being implemented across Australia in primary care settings. Â
It is a decision-making framework guided by clinicians’ own assessment and clinical judgement. The tool supports clinicians to match a person’s presenting mental health needs with the right and least intensive and least intrusive level of service intensity as early as possible in their journey.
Navigating an ever-changing mental health service landscape is challenging and time consuming. The IAR-DST helps all clinicians navigate the referral process effectively and efficiently, ensuring that care recommendation aligns with the individuals current care needs, without over or under servicing.
When submitting an eReferral to Head to Health, it is not mandatory to complete the IAR-DST, but if you do it helps to fast-track support for your patient and reduces the need for Head to Health to complete an additional assessment of the patient, thus reducing the number of times they are repeating their story, resulting in better patient experiences.
Learn more about the IAR-DST and watch some helpful videos.
Get training, get $300 and 2 CPD points!
It is recommended that you complete IAR-DST training before using the tool. Healthy North Coast delivers free IAR-DST training to clinicians both online & in person. Register for the next upcoming session or contact Kelsey Tarrant if you would like more information: [email protected].
GPs are eligible to receive a one-off incentive payment of $300 and 2 hours of CPD points through RACGP and ACRRM for attendance. All other health professionals are not eligible to receive reimbursement.Â
