The recently-opened Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in Lismore and Coffs Harbour are now operating 12 hours per day, seven days a week, in a fully bulk-billed (free) service with no appointments or referrals necessary.
Medicare UCCs are designed to address urgent, but not life-threatening illnesses, including:
- Minor infections
- Minor fractures, sprains, sports injuries
- Sudden onset neck or back pain
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Minor cuts
- Insect bites and rashes
- Minor eye and ear infections
- Respiratory illnesses
- Gastroenteritis
- Mild burns
The Clinics will reduce the burden on local North Coast emergency departments, allowing them to focus on high urgency and life-threatening conditions.
The Coffs Harbour Medicare UCC alone has seen more than 1,000 patients since it opened late last year, averaging 30-40 patients per day. View NBN News’ recent story on the Clinic.
Medicare UCCs are another fantastic option in the suite of services available to North Coast residents for primary health care, including North Coast Health Connect, MNC Virtual Care and Head to Health.
