Healthy North Coast is proud to announce the LGBTQ+ Inclusive Practice for Trans and Gender Diverse education workshop for GP & primary care professionals, developed in partnership with ACON, is now open for expression of interest.
We are excited to deliver a half day, face to face workshop in 4 locations, on a Saturday, that will equip GPs and primary care professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide safe, respectful and affirming care.
The workshop builds from foundational LGBTQ+ concepts to the specific needs of transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) patients, with a focus on inclusive practice in clinical settings.
Participants will hear from community voices and subject matter experts, explore real-world scenarios, and leave with actionable strategies to improve patient experiences and health outcomes.
Patients with diverse genders and sexualities come from every culture and background. Their experiences often differ from the broader population, requiring thoughtful, informed approaches to communication and care.
Learning outcomes
- Understand key LGBTQ+ terms and identities.
- Recognise the health needs and lived experiences of TGD people.
- Explain the importance of inclusive care and its impact on health outcomes.
- Identify how discrimination affects TGD health and wellbeing.
- Describe options for social, legal, and medical gender affirmation.
- Recognise barriers TGD patients face in health care settings.
- Apply gender-affirming and inclusive practices in clinical care
There are workshops being delivered in early 2026 in Ballina, Coffs Harbour, Tweed Heads and Port Macquarie.
