Healthy North Coast in partnership with ACON, invites all primary health care workforce to attend a face-to-face workshop exploring inclusive healthcare for Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) patients. The whole primary care team, including administration, management, GP, nursing, allied health, pharmacy, pathology and support staff, all can make an impact to a patient’s experience of inclusive care.
This practical workshop will equip participants with strategies to strengthen inclusive practice, improve patient experiences and support equitable access to healthcare services for TGD patients across primary care settings.
About the Workshop
TGD people come from diverse cultures, communities and backgrounds. Their healthcare journeys are often shaped by both positive and challenging experiences when accessing services.
This interactive workshop will explore how practice systems, communication, referral processes and everyday patient interactions can influence healthcare experiences and patient outcomes. Participants will gain practical tools to help create inclusive environments and support respectful, person-centred care.
The workshop will also examine the important role practice staff and primary care health professionals play in supporting multidisciplinary care, navigating referral pathways and ensuring continuity of care for TGD patients.

- Understand key LGBTQ+ terms and identities.
- Identify the unique experiences, healthcare needs, and barriers faced by trans and gender diverse people.
- Describe and apply key principles in the provision of healthcare to trans and gender diverse people, under the WPATH Standards of Care.
- Explain the importance of inclusive care and its impact on health outcomes.
- Navigate common pitfalls and apply trans inclusive practice to health care settings.
