Don’t miss your chance to share your service’s experience of the 2022 floods.
Over 60 general practices, pharmacies and allied health services have completed Healthy North Coast’s flood impact survey. Survey responses are helping Healthy North Coast to understand the quantitative impact of the flood on services and direct Australian Government workforce and COVID-19 vaccination flood recovery funding.
Key survey findings regarding flood impact:
- more than 50% of responding services said they experienced a temporary closure of their service. 18 services were closed for 2 weeks or more
- nearly 50% of services said they experienced a temporary loss of staff with many staff unable to get to work and because the service was closed
- 77% of responding services said they were concerned about staff wellbeing, burnout and fatigue
- 62% of services said they were concerned about the ability of health professionals to have a rest.
Key survey findings regarding most desired workforce initiatives include:
- free locum services were wanted by 50% of responding services
- education for staff was also highly rated (43%)
- 38% of services said staff debriefing and wellbeing initiatives are needed
- information and input into flood recovery efforts was wanted by 35% of respondents.
If your service was impacted by floods, it’s important to complete the Flood Impact survey by 27 May 2022 to be eligible for potential support from Healthy North Coast. The survey should only take 5 minutes to complete.
