Primary Care Impact has a new quality improvement activity to help improve FOBT screening of people aged 50-74 in your practice.
This QI activity was prompted by Maria Clinic in Casino. Practice Manager Gene Allder-Conn was concerned that not all patients in the target age group were being offered screening. Of those who were, less than half were taking the test.
Between 2018 to 2019, the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program recorded a 43 per cent participation rate for Healthy North Coast’s footprint. The Primary Health Network with the highest national participation rate was Gippsland at 51 per cent, so there is plenty of room for improvement.
General practice endorsement is one of the strongest motivational factors for people to participate in screening. To play your part, visit Primary Care Impact and improve FOBT screening of people aged 50-74.
The PCI page includes a wonderfully detailed and successful PDSA and case study shared by Bullinah Aboriginal Health Service. Thanks to Payden and the team at Bullinah, great effort!
