The last couple of months have been a period of collaboration and co-design for Healthy Towns in Casino. New partnerships were formed to support youth activities and funding was provided to boost community transport. Read on for more details.
Outdoor Gym Equipment Classes
Throughout December, Healthy Towns partnered with the Northern NSW Local Health District to provide free exercise classes on the new outdoor gym equipment in Crawford Square. Classes were a huge success with all available spaces filling up. The current round of classes has now finished, but please phone Linda on 0423 956 585 to express your interest in future classes.
Casino Youth Connections
Casino Youth Connections working group held its inaugural meeting on 20th November 2018. The working group consisted of a broad range of service providers and reflects the community’s passionate commitment to young people.
The group came up with multiple ideas and initiatives to support and engage young people. They agreed to form a Casino Healthy Towns Youth Alliance that will include members from each of the key youth service providers as well as young people themselves. The group will work together to deliver a range of projects to promote youth connection and reconciliation.
Healthy Towns will provide funding for a number of youth projects in Casino in 2019. Stay tuned for further updates!
Community & Health Transport
Healthy Towns has provided funding to support the establishment of the Casino RSM Community Transport Service. Health and community transport were raised as key issues during Healthy Towns consultations and workshops.
Transport is a barrier to accessing health services for many groups, particularly in regional areas. RSM Community Transport will provide flexible transport options for vulnerable community members to enable them to access the healthcare they need.
We are very pleased to be able to support this important community service.
