Healthy North Coast has developed a Disaster Management Framework to guide our preparation, response and recovery activities in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.
Following the 2022 floods in Northern NSW, we conducted an extensive learning and reflection process, compiling experiences and feedback from our primary health practitioners, Local Health District staff and community representatives across the region.
While primary health networks and the primary healthcare sector do not currently have a formal role in state and territory disaster management arrangements, the role of primary health care has been extremely important in recent flood and fire responses.
This Framework better defines our role to guide future responses and stands us in good stead in the event of a natural disaster or emergency over the holiday season and beyond.
You can access the framework via our website.
In case of a natural disaster or emergency, please check our website which will be updated with all relevant information.
