Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) is trialling GP eReferrals to two of their services.
If you adopt electronic referrals when referring to NNSWLHD’s Lismore Base Specialty Outpatient Clinics or the Lismore Pain Clinic:
1. You receive an electronic acknowledgement that your referral was received.
2. You are updated electronically via secure message delivery:
- when the referral is being triaged
- when an appointment is made
- if a patient Does Not Attend
- if the patient is non-contactable, or
- if the referral is declined.
eReferrals are a secure alternative to fax.
Clinician experience and feedback will inform the trial evaluation.
Thanks to Lennox Head Medical Centre, Goonellabah Medical Centre, Evans Head Medical Centre, Jullums Aboriginal Medical Service and Maria Clinic for their work on initial testing of the platform.
“The interface that the LHD has set up is really easy to use, it’s quite intuitive. All-in-all I’ve been really pleased with this trial and I’m excited for it to go to the wider GP community.”
“Some of the benefits are a reduction in admin time and I can now see services that I didn’t even know were available at the hospital.”
