Go4Fun Online is a free healthy lifestyle program that has undergone some recent changes to better support families with healthy living.
The program supports primary school-aged children and their families to eat healthily and be more physically active. It includes 10 online sessions, supported by a weekly health coach, and connection with an online community.
Children participating in Go4Fun Online have significant improvements in healthy eating and active living outcomes:
- 53%Â of children increased their daily water intake
- 68% of children increased their daily vegetable intake
- 76% of children achieved >60 min/per day of moderate to vigorous exercise
Research shows that when children eat healthier food and are physically active, it can positively impact their mental health, concentration, self-esteem, confidence, as well as bone strength, muscle control, balance and coordination.
Go4Fun Online now includes:
- a new and improved layout with clear and easy to follow steps
- short online modules families can complete together, with visuals and text adapted to suit lower literacy levels and diverse learning needs
- a weekly phone call with a qualified health coach
- flexibility for families to choose the pace and set goals that matter to them
- mobile-friendly access, reducing the need for a laptop
- on-demand interpreter services
Go4Fun Online is delivered by health coaches with:
- a nutrition or fitness-based university health qualification
- a minimum of one year’s experience in health coaching.
Health coaches are based across Australia, including regional and rural areas, and Aboriginal families completing the program now also have the option to access to 3 additional phone calls with an Aboriginal Support Worker throughout the program to have a yarn and gain additional support.
