Vision 2020 Australia have developed a set of free online training modules to support GPs and other primary care professionals in improving patient eye health outcomes.
These modules are fully online, RACGP CPD-accredited, and may be of interest to local GPs.
Vision 2020 Australia is the national peak body for the eye health and vision care sector, with over 50 members who work across the spectrum of research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and representation of or service provision for people who are blind or have low vision.
Their members include the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology, Australian College of Optometry, UNSW, Sydney Eye Hospital and Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW.
The training is designed to be practical, flexible, and relevant to everyday practice, with topics including:
- Children’s vision – assessing and managing common paediatric ocular concerns.
- Ocular emergencies – building confidence in early recognition and referral of urgent presentations.
- Diabetes and eye health – supporting diabetes educators, Aboriginal health workers, and practitioners in preventing vision loss.
Each course is free to access and offers CPD points, making it a valuable inclusion for your upcoming newsletters, GP updates, or educational resources.
