TheĀ Focus on New Fathers program supports local dads in the Northern Rivers, with over 160 dads and dads-to-be enrolled so far. The program provides helpful tips and tools through a free text message-based service.
A recent change to the program now means that dads will be able to sign up earlier. Fathers and co-parents can now enrol from the time their partner is 12 weeks pregnant (compared to 16 weeks into the pregnancy previously).
The eligibility age to enrol in the program is 18.
A range of promotional materials is available to raise awareness of the program and help fathers sign up. If your organisation would like to obtain posters, flyers and postcards, please contact [email protected].

Evaluation Survey
The Parenting Research Centre is looking to hear from fathers participating in the Focus on New Fathers program, those who have heard about the program but not signed up, and those who might not yet be aware of the program.
Their survey aims to gather information on:
- whether fathers are aware of the screening program
- where they heard about it and why they did/didnāt sign up
- what fathers liked/did not like about screening
- whether fathers followed up on referrals and supports offered
- the helpfulness of the supports offered
- preferences for mental health and parenting support.
If you would like further information about the survey or evaluation overall, please contact the Parenting Research Centre: [email protected]
