The 13th session of the First 2000 Days Webinar Series will focus on the way in which physical activity can help to support healthy growth and development in children.
It will also discuss the importance of reducing screen time for long term health and wellbeing. It will focus on building your knowledge of programs in the community that help to support holistic health and wellbeing of children as they grow.

The First 2000 Days webinar series has been designed to build capacity of service providers and health professionals to support families in the first 2000 days.
The 13th Session of the First 2000 Days Webinar Series aims to:
- Increase your knowledge of the importance of physical activity and reduced screentime for emotional regulation of children
- Increase your knowledge of developmentally appropriate expectations of and activities for children
- Increase your knowledge of programs, services and resources which can support with physical activity and reduced screen time
- Increase your confidence to support parents to follow evidenced-based physical activity and screen time recommendations
- Increase your confidence to discuss and refer families to programs and services, like occupational therapy, when concerns exist about the child’s ability to participate in physical activities (e.g. Delays in gross motor skills, concerns about coordination)
This session will be presented by Jenny Wehlow and Gillian Bright.
Jenny Wehlow has a background in nutrition and works in health promotion. Jenny has worked in a variety of programs in healthcare settings and within the community. She is currently working in early childhood interventions including Munch & Move which supports Early childhood services, educators and parents to improve dietary intake and increase physical activity in children.
Gillian Bright is a paediatric occupational therapist at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital. Gill heads a small team of occupational therapists providing outpatient services to children in the Coffs Harbour, Bellingen, Nambucca and Bowraville regions. The service focuses on supporting children to achieve to their best potential in their occupations. Therapy targets fine and gross motor skills, play skills, sensory processing, activities of dialing living (dressing, toileting, feeding), emotional and activity regulation.
