Kidney Health Week takes place from 5-11 March.
Kidney Health Australia has put together a short test that tells you if you are at risk of kidney disease. With one in three Australians at increased risk of kidney disease, the test is useful because you can lose 90% of your kidney function without having any symptoms.
So, do the test, learn the risk factors and ‘Don’t Be Blind to Kidney Disease.’

Sadly, Aboriginal people are at higher risk than most of getting kidney disease.
Here at North Coast Primary Health Network we are working with five Aboriginal Medical Services to train staff to identify the early warning signs of kidney disease. Early identification means health care starts earlier and the person’s quality of life will remain better for longer.
The 12-month project will involve specially trained nurses from the Northern NSW Local Health Service going into Aboriginal Medical Services and working with staff. The earlier kidney damage can be picked up, the more likely that health professionals will be able to prevent or slow down further damage to this vital organ. Click here to learn more.
