Macksville Health Campus is about to conduct its second YWCA Encore-funded exercise program for breast cancer survivors thanks to the program’s highly successful debut in the Nambucca Valley late last year.
McGrath Breast Care Nurse Carolyn Cross said the inaugural program at the Macksville Heated Pool last November attracted 10 women, and resulted in a waiting list for the next Encore program due to start in February.
“The women all agreed it is a much-needed program for many reasons but mostly to help them learn how to live well and meet new friends,” Ms Cross said.
YWCA Encore provides a free gentle exercise program specifically for women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis at any stage of their life and who have completed their treatment.
It’s an inspiring approach to recovery from breast cancer surgery, which aims to meet the exercise and support needs of women after their treatment in a nurturing non-medical environment.
Anyone wanting more information about the program can contact Ms Cross on (02) 6568 0697 or email [email protected].
