The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has developed an alcohol and other drugs (AOD) education program to help GPs support patients experiencing AOD related problems.
Treatment Skills Training is available for RACGP members who work in areas of socioeconomic disadvantage, in rural and remote practice, or treat a number of identified at risk groups. This training will provide members with skills to support patients to contemplate change, minimise harm and enter into appropriate treatment plans. Training will take a minimum of six hours to complete and can be completed online.
Members who complete treatment skills training will receive $1,200 and points for completion of a CPD accredited activity for the 2020-22 triennium.
Advanced Skills Training is available for more experienced GPs working in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, in rural and remote practice or treating a number of identified at-risk groups. Advanced Skills Training is a personalised program that utilises online and mentor-led education and will take 20 hours to complete.
Members who complete advanced skills training will receive $2,500.
