Over 50 per of all accredited North Coast general practices submitted an EOI to be a part of the first phases of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
The Australian Government has indicated that over time all accredited general practices will have the opportunity to provide the vaccine. The Department of Health has clarified, however, that in the short term only a small number of general practices will provide large-scale vaccination clinics during very early stages (Phase 1b). This is due to the initial limited vaccine supply.
The majority of general practices that have expressed interest to support the vaccination rollout strategy will commence vaccination from Phase 2 onwards.
Assessing North Coast Need
Healthy North Coast has analysed population health data and primary care availability to assess the service provision required to support the COVID-19 Vaccine Roadmap. We are using this modelling to assess areas of high need and advise the Australian Government on recommended priority areas.
The modelling incorporates:
- Population health and geographic data matched to each phase
- Practice data supplied in the recent EOI process
- Provider availability such as the addition of GP Respiratory clinics, ACCHSs and pharmacists.
