The Cancer Patient and Carer Home Visit Scheme is being offered through not for profit FSG Australia (Freedom, Social Justice and Growth). With the support of Cancer Council NSW, this scheme aims to assist those in greatest need who are affected by a cancer diagnosis.
The scheme creates a link of support, company and conversation for community members after a cancer diagnosis.
Often people with cancer, or someone caring for a family member with cancer, can become isolated and withdrawn from the community, not wanting to burden others with their challenges. The scheme provides emotional support by linking recipients with volunteer visitors to lessen the burden and rebuild the support network.
