Image: Social Futures

Connecting You supports young people aged 12 to 15 at risk of homelessness. This includes providing accommodation in a safe home environment while supporting them to develop positive strategies and direction. Placements are for a maximum of 28 days at a time.

Connecting You has opportunities for family carers who:

  • Live in or near Lismore, Grafton or Tweed Heads
  • Have a spare room
  • Are interested in and respect young people
  • Are flexible, tolerant and understanding
  • Have time to spend time one on one
  • Want to make a difference
  • Don’t have young children at home
  • Own a comprehensively insured car

Ideally carers will have experience with young teenagers as a parent, teacher or in a similar role. You might have recently retired or be working from home.

Full training and support is offered for the right candidates. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

A generous tax-free retainer is offered.

Carers can be from any cultural or religious background, a couple or single, studying or retired.

If you think you have what it takes to be a family carer and give some respite and relief to a young person who needs it, get in touch today.

Connecting You is a program of Social Futures. For more information call Tracy Coop on (02) 6620 1800 or visit: www.socialfutures.org.au/family-carers
