On Wednesday 3 July, the Northern NSW Regional Training Hub hosted a Medical Careers Expo, at the University Centre for Rural Health in Lismore.
The ‘speed dating’ style event showcased a wide range of medical specialties with a fun and innovative approach.
Attendees included medical students, Junior Medical Officers and international medical graduates currently in the Lismore area, presenting a great opportunity to connect with consultants and registrars about their chosen discipline, gain a firmer understanding of their interests, or discover a potential new career path.
Healthy North Coast attended in collaboration with RACGP & ACRRM to discuss GP training opportunities including rural generalist training pathways.
About Healthy North Coast’s Workforce Development team
HNC’s Workforce Development team works closely with regional partners to support a diverse, dynamic and sustainable workforce on the North Coast.
They are currently mapping GP training pathways across the Mid North Coast & Northern NSW regions as part of the Workforce Planning and Prioritisation (WPP) Program. The objective of the training pathways report is to document pathways to complete all GP training within our region.
Engagement has commenced with medical schools, JMO units, local GP college education teams, and GP registrars, to map training pathways and identify gaps or opportunities for improvement.
The Workforce Development website has now been launched, highlighting our health workforce, WPP program, stakeholder engagement and recent news.
If you would like to connect with the team, or find our more about what they’re doing, you can contact them via the website or email [email protected].
