Hypertension remains one of the most significant and preventable risk factors affecting the health of our communities. With almost one in 4 Australian adults living with high blood pressure, the impact of underdiagnosed and undertreated hypertension is increasingly being felt across the North Coast as our population ages.
This August, our Clinical Society series will focus on hypertension management and outcomes in vascular and brain health, providing primary health clinicians with practical, evidence-based strategies to identify, monitor and manage hypertension more effectively.
Exploring hypertension
These locally delivered events will explore the far-reaching impacts of hypertension, including its contribution to cardiovascular disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease and dementia. Clinicians will gain valuable insights into current best-practice approaches to screening, risk reduction and treatment, helping improve outcomes for patients across the region.
A key focus of the program will be optimising lifestyle for cardiovascular and brain health. Sessions will explore the role of physical activity, nutrition, weight management, smoking cessation, sleep and other lifestyle interventions in reducing vascular risk and supporting long-term health outcomes.
Attendees will gain confidence in identifying patients who may benefit from early intervention and understand how multidisciplinary care can support safe, effective risk reduction strategies.
Whether you are a GP, practice nurse, nurse practitioner, Aboriginal health worker, exercise physiologist, dietitian, pharmacists or allied health professional involved in chronic disease management, these sessions offer a valuable opportunity to strengthen your knowledge and apply practical approaches in everyday clinical practice.
