Back in February, Healthy North Coast met with the Directors of VOICE (Validating Outcomes by Including Consumer Experience) to see where there might be some crossovers with our Aboriginal health and wellbeing deep-dive.
This deep-dive is part of our Aboriginal Partnership with the six Aboriginal Medical Services in our footprint.
The aim of the project is, together with Aboriginal peoples, to identify solutions to health issues, health care needs and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal peoples, families and communities. The goal is to build on existing strengths, improve population health and reduce inequity.
The objectives of the project are to:
- analyse relevant data and literature regarding the health needs of Aboriginal peoples, families and communities living in the North Coast region
- provide an opportunity for Aboriginal peoples to identify gaps in the identified health needs and priorities gathered through the DoHAC core needs assessment
- identify and understand the desired health outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, families and communities living in the North Coast region
- explore and develop solutions to identified health needs and priorities for Aboriginal peoples, families and communities in the North Coast region.
