The Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 legislation comes into effect on Tuesday 28 November 2023, and will be one of the most significant health legislation changes in many years.
From this date, it will be possible for residents on the mid and north coast of NSW and their health care professionals to discuss both eligibility and accessibility to voluntary assisted dying.Â
It is expected that many of those who wish to avail themselves of voluntary assisted dying at the end of their lives will choose to die at home. The involvement of primary health care professionals, especially general practitioners will be essential for empathy around this choice.Â
To support residents and health professionals of the region, Healthy North Coast is hosting two webinars to help explain the legislation, its impact, and what you need to do to prepare.Â
Complete the 5-minute survey so that we can tailor the webinar to local needs based on current knowledge and understanding of the planned changes.
Book you spot for the webinars:
Part 1: 6pm Tuesday 17 October – clinical pathways for general practitioners
Part 2: 6pm Thursday 19 October – local pathways for your patients and community
