The Queensland Government released updated border restrictions on 20 August. The updated guidelines provide more information about accessing essential health care in Queensland.
NSW residents can enter Queensland to access essential health care if the service cannot be provided in the place where they live. An exemption is not required.
Essential health care includes appointments with medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health and dental services. The full list of essential health care services is available here.
You do not need to quarantine if the duration of your treatment is less than one day. If the treatment is more than one day, you will be required to comply with quarantine requirements. If you are admitted to a hospital or other facility, you will be able to quarantine at the facility. Otherwise, you will need to quarantine at a hotel at your own expense.
People who live within the border zone can continue to cross the border for any purpose. Click here to view the border zone map (PDF).
