Our Healthy Clarence is a unique model that brings community and organisations together in a constructive and sustainable way to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the Clarence Valley community. Our Healthy Clarence is working with community groups, services providers, schools, health industry professionals and our community to sustain a healthy and well Clarence Valley community.
The project is adopting the Black Dog Institute’s LifeSpan model. To incorporate the LifeSpan approach, a number of simultaneous prevention strategies are being introduced across the Clarence Valley.
One particular LifeSpan strategy is aimed at equipping general practitioners and mental health professionals with the skills to identify and support people at risk of suicide.
There are several training options available. The project is gauging interest in the most relevant and meaningful options by asking the preferences of those working in general practices.
