Healthy North Coast is excited to present our first Aboriginal Health Primary Care Impact quality improvement activity.
Recent studies have found that only a minority of GPs routinely collect and record the Indigenous identity of patients. Rather than making assumptions, it is vital the question is asked of all patients to shape client care, planning, and to provide culturally relevant information, referral and support.
Visit the QI activity ‘Improve Collection and Recording of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Status‘ for practical advice on how to enquire about identity status, respond to difficult questions and best practice guidelines.
Your local Aboriginal Health Coordinators can assist and provide additional supports and resources with this activity.
