The Nurse Re-entry Program is an Australian Government initiative supporting general practices to build their capability by hosting nurses in supervised placements.
The program helps nurses who haven’t practised in the last 5-10 years to return to the workforce through paid, supervised placements in general practice.
It also supports nurse practitioners transitioning into general practice.
The program strengthens your team by training nurses within your practice to regain full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Once completed, the nurse will have met the requirements for full registration and will be fully trained in the primary care setting.
To participate, your practice must be accredited and have a registered nurse with at least 12 months of general practice experience available to supervise.
Eligible practices may receive a grant to support participation and there is no obligation to employ the nurse permanently after the placement is complete.
Expressions of interest are now open.
Submit your EOI and we will contact you to confirm eligibility and discuss next steps. For more information, contact the Nurse Re-entry Program team at nursereentry@nbmphn.com.au.
